IST-PhysFront’26 brought together around 400 students, researchers and faculty from Instituto Superior Técnico to showcase research and innovation across a wide range of physics fields, including quantum systems, astrophysics, particle physics and advanced technologies.

The second edition took place on 16 September at the Técnico Innovation Center (TIC) and opened with a Special Talk by Professor Paulo Freitas, President of INESC MN, entitled “Macroscopic Quantum Effects, the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics and Spin-Dependent Quantum Devices at INESC MN/IST”.

His talk highlighted the opportunities offered by physics research and presented work developed at the interface between INESC MN and Técnico, with a focus on quantum effects and spin-dependent quantum devices.

The event also featured student research and innovation projects, poster presentations and awards, reinforcing its role as a meeting point for students, researchers and faculty and as a platform for promoting new ideas, collaborations and scientific talent.
