Mario García is an accomplished researcher and Electrical Engineer specializing in the implementation of electrical circuits for sensor integration. He completed his undergraduate studies in electronics and earned his Ph.D. in the design of optical devices based on liquid crystals. His international Ph.D. thesis, titled “Tunable Diffractive Liquid Crystal Photonic Devices,” received cum laude honors. Mario has worked on companies in space engineering and aircraft manufacturing, thereby establishing a diverse profile with a strong connection to the industry.
Currently affiliated with INESC-MN, Mario is involved in projects centered around energy transition. His primary focus lies in developing innovative power meter solutions to enhance energy efficiency across various applications, the study of Battery Management Systems electronics for the future implementation of next-generation batteries and the design of sensors and interfaces aimed at measuring the state of life of batteries. His scientific and professional interests revolve around the application of the Internet of Things in smart devices, and the continuous pursuit of efficiency improvements through innovative solutions
