Técnico Celebrates International Women’s Day

As part of the International Women’s Day 2026 celebrations,Instituto Superior Técnico is highlighting research projects that contribute to improving women’s health and quality of life.

One of the featured projects is ILSurvive, which includes the participation of Prof. João Pedro Conde, President of Técnico’s Department of Bioengineering and researcher at INESC MN, in collaboration with the University of Aveiro.

The project focused on developing miniaturized, portable systems to detect the HER2 protein, a key biomarker in breast cancer diagnosis that supports clinical decision-making and therapy selection. By combining ease of use with laboratory-level sensitivity, the team aimed to make diagnostic processes more accessible, faster, and more efficient, contributing to more personalized healthcare.
