It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Carlos Reis. His departure leaves a profound void in our research community, and we take a moment to reflect on the indelible impact he made during his time with us.
Dr. Reis earned his PhD in Physics from Universidade de Lisboa, specializing in the ab-initio design of bulk materials with silicon clusters. His work, focused on predicting novel materials and advancing quantum mechanical materials simulation methods, showcased a depth of knowledge and dedication that inspired us all.
As a postdoctoral fellow and researcher at INESC MN, Dr. Reis continued to contribute significantly, particularly in the development of methods to accelerate first-principles pseudopotential plane wave calculations and simulations of Si-Ge superlattices.
His expertise in materials simulation and code development set a standard for excellence.
Thank you for being a part of INESC MN team!
