The Técnico Holiday Programme, an initiative designed to introduce secondary school students to academic life, offered a range of science activities. As part of this initiative, INESC MN hosted the “Microfabrication & Microfluidics Workshop,” providing participants with the opportunity to explore the fascinating fields of microfluidics and photolithography.
During the workshop, high school students engaged in hands-on activities at the INESC MN facilities, where they learned fundamental photolithography techniques for crafting microstructures in photosensitive materials. They then applied this knowledge to construct a 3D microfluidic device using PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane), with a specific focus on designing a gradient generator.
Additionally, participants had the chance to tour our labs and research spaces, further enhancing their educational experience.
