The Portuguese Institute for Quality – IPQ hosted the annual meeting of the ISO/TC 48 – Laboratory Equipment committee from September 25 to 27. The meeting also involved the subcommittees SC 7 – Non-measuring equipment made of glass, plastic, and ceramics, SC 8 – Volume measuring instruments, SC 9 – Laboratory furniture, and the working group WG 3 – Microfluidic Devices. The WG 3 meeting took place on the first day. This working group is dedicated to the standardization for Microfluidic Devices, and is led by our collaborator Vania Silverio with the support of IPQ in collaboration with APORMED – Portuguese Association of Medical Device Companies. Proposals for new standards and ongoing revisions were discussed, as well as the organization of work for the upcoming year. The event culminated on the 27th with the plenary meeting of TC48, where reports from each subcommittee and working group were presented. The recommendations discussed during the meeting were approved, establishing the pathway for the work plan for 2025.
