The Lusitano Project is driving innovation in the textile and garment industry, with groundbreaking developments that promise to enhance sustainability and efficiency. During the Open Day at Polopiqué’s facilities in Santo Tirso on 17 March, industry leaders gathered to explore the latest advancements in natural and recycled yarns, smart technologies, and resource management solutions, setting new standards for the sector.
One of the key highlights was the presence of the Portuguese Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, who underscored the vital role of innovation and sustainability in shaping the future of the textile sector. The Minister also explored the groundbreaking work of INESC MN, which is developing smart tags to drive the digitalization of textile processes. These innovations will enable a digital product passport, ensuring materials traceability, energy and water management, tracking, and supply chain mapping, paving the way for a more transparent and sustainable industry.
