On Técnico Partner Network Day, held on January 30, Flash Diagnostics shared how the Instituto Superior Técnico‘s ecosystem played a key role in the company’s creation and growth.

Flash Diagnostics, an INESC MN spin-off, emerged from research conducted in collaboration with INESC-ID by IST students and faculty. Flash Diagnostics combines knowledge in physics, electronics, machine learning, and biotechnology to create innovative solutions for medical diagnosis. Its flagship product, Bactometer, uses magnetic biosensors to detect multidrug-resistant bacteria in less than an hour, enabling a faster and more effective response in hospitals and intensive care units.

IST’s invitation to Flash Diagnostics to take part in this event reinforces its commitment to supporting emerging startups that aim to transform knowledge into real innovation. This is an example of how cutting-edge research and the support of a solid innovation ecosystem can transform scientific knowledge into tangible benefits for society.
