On World Music Day (October 1), Instituto Superior Técnico launched its initiative for the fourth consecutive year, inviting its scientific community to create playlists that show how music shapes their daily research.

Eight researchers from different Research Units, including our President Paulo Freitas, accepted the challenge by sharing 10-track playlists connecting their musical choices with their academic work.

Paulo Freitas reflects:
“The piano became a refuge from the daily bustle: I remember spending hours on pianos in the dim corridors of CMU when experiments in the lab did not go well during my doctoral studies. Even then, and still today, the piano and music have always provided a natural and spontaneous way to connect with people and communities.”

This initiative highlights how music is not only a personal expression but also an integral part of the research environment at Técnico.
